“Parking Spot From Hell”: Florida Woman Fatally Shoots Decorated Army Veteran in Shocking Walmart Showdown — Video Captures Every Terrifying Second

A simple argument over a parking space ended in tragedy Tuesday when a woman pulled a gun and shot dead a 62-year-old retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant outside a Florida Walmart.

Bart DiGuglielmo, a decorated combat veteran who served during Operation Desert Storm as a combat nurse and medic, was gunned down in broad daylight in the parking lot of the North Lauderdale supercenter just before 12:30 p.m. on June 30.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the two got into a heated verbal fight over a parking spot. Things escalated rapidly when the woman — who has not been named — stepped out of her car with a gun in her hand.

Disturbing video circulating on social media shows the woman in a white shirt pointing the weapon at DiGuglielmo, who was wearing a gray shirt. The pair yelled and pointed fingers at each other before DiGuglielmo raised both arms in the air. He then followed her around another car as she continued aiming the gun — until a single gunshot rang out.

DiGuglielmo collapsed to the ground. He was rushed to a hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The shooter immediately claimed self-defense, police said. Witnesses described her becoming hysterical afterward, screaming and ranting as officers arrived.

One shopper told CBS News Miami: “I was walking up and heard a lady screaming… She was saying a lot of things.”

DiGuglielmo’s devastated sister remembered him as “a Christian man and a very good person who would not hurt anyone.” A native of Hammonton, New Jersey, he later worked as a retired nurse in Lauderhill, Florida.

“He was a decorated veteran,” she added. “He served his country and helped people his whole life.”

The woman remains unnamed while the investigation continues. The Broward County State Attorney’s Office will decide whether she faces charges.
