Pope Leo XIV Continues His African Journey in Cameroon

The African journey of Pope Leo XIV continued on April 15, 2026, as the Holy Father departed Algeria and arrived in Cameroon for the third day of his pastoral visit.
Upon his arrival, Pope Leo was warmly welcomed by representatives of the Church, government officials, and local communities. The atmosphere reflected respect, hope, and deep anticipation, as many people gathered to witness a meaningful moment for the Catholic Church in Cameroon.

The Pope’s first official meeting took place with political authorities, where he delivered a message focused on cooperation, solidarity, and responsibility toward the most vulnerable members of society. He emphasized that true leadership must be guided not only by power or policy, but by compassion, justice, and the protection of human dignity.
Pope Leo XIV also spoke about the urgent need to care for the poor, support struggling families, and build bridges between communities. His words encouraged leaders to work together for peace, social stability, and a future where no one is left behind.

One of the most emotional moments of the day came during his visit to the Ngul Zamba orphanage. There, the Holy Father spent time with children, listened to their personal stories, greeted caregivers and staff members, and offered words of comfort and encouragement.

The visit became a powerful reminder of the Church’s mission to stand close to those who suffer, especially children without family support and people facing hardship. Pope Leo encouraged the faithful to never abandon those in need, reminding them that every act of kindness can become a sign of God’s love.

For many who witnessed the day, Pope Leo XIV’s presence in Cameroon was more than a formal visit. It was a message of hope, tenderness, and renewed commitment to service, especially toward the poor, the forgotten, and the vulnerable.
